Fried Candy Bars
This recipe comes from Kirsten, a friend of mine at work, who makes these for her supper club. I hear they are amazing. I would serve them warm with a dollop of whipped cream. Mmm. Eat salads all the following day, and you won't feel guilty!
Ingredients:
1 cup sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 cup cold water
1/4 tsp. baking powder
4 Mars or other caramel covered candy bars
Shortening or oil for frying
Directions:
Mix flour, salt and water until smooth, cover, and let stand at room temperature 20-30 minutes. Stir in baking powder. Place shortening or oil in a deep fat fryer, insert thermometer, and begin heating over high heat. Dip candy bars into batter, allowing excess to drain off. Fry at 375F until golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels. Experiment with and adjust the amount of flour in the batter to make it cling better.
